L.A. – Family Vacation
07/26/2011

LA is a great city but it is truly awesome when you are there with amazing people that go above and beyond to make you feel like family. I landed in LA and was taken in by my big brothers, Benj and Joel. They took me to the studio and showed me the music they are working on and all I have to say is wow..the stuff is going to make peoples heads spin.. I am shooting their next music video that features the one and only Machine Gun Kelly which I started to shoot that day. The next day I was more than fortunate enough to meet the man himself, Lionel Richie who showed me some serious hospitality. We hungout at his studio, had some drinks and food and he let me drool over his RED camera set-up. After that we hit up Fairfax to go shopping, chill with the homies and to hit up Norm’s “Always” gallery to check out what was going on there. Me, Benji hit up the studio, later on that night with Danny to check out 12th Planet where him and Benj some musical magic happen… i also got to hang with my favorite porn star Jessie Andrews as well…<3<3

Draught Dry Goods
05/19/2011

In the age of mass reproduction of goods it is refreshing to see companies, especially individuals, embrace quality over quantity in order to put a personal stamp into their goods. Draught Dry Goods is Caesy Oney, a craftsman based in Montana by way of Portland, Oregon who is engineering some of the finest leather and canvas products. Each piece is made to order and is as unique as the individual it is made for. Caesy was kind enough to make me this custom EIKNARF camera strap, something you will see me rocking when I am out shooting photos.
Check out draughtdrygoods.com for more quality products.

2011 SXSW Recap
03/23/2011

SXSW maybe the hipster version of Disneyworld but it is also a perfect opportunity for me catch up and capture what is going on in music today. Me, Asian Dan and the Karmaloop TV crew spent 5 days running around eating tacos, bathing in Lone Star beer, and trying to capture the madness and music that is SXSW. Whether it was running into artists on 6th Street, interviewing Das Racist on a rooftop bar, catching Boys Noize spin, or watching Tyler, the Creator stage dive – we were there to see and hear it all. Head over to KarmaLoopTV to check out some interviews with The Black Lips, Joe Buddon, The Stepkids, Boys Noize and more!

No Place Like Home
03/07/2011

A trip back home for the weekend always does a body good. Especially when I get to spend time with some of the most inspiring and genuine people I know. It always reminds me why NYC is so amazing and why there is only one NYC.

DEWTOUR: Green Label Art Recap
06/26/2010

This week, I took a road trip along with Hawaii Mike, Brad Clarke of Rad Collector and Mega and Rob from BlackScale down to Boston. On the way, we had to hit up Louie’s Lunch in New Haven Connecticut, home of the first hamburger. There, we downed dope burgers at the place that started it all. When we landed in Boston, we stayed at the Langham Boston Hotel, courtesy of Mountain Dew. Being in Boston, we were able to hit up all the must-see shops along Newbury Street. We took advantage of the special opportunity to visit our Karmaloop family, where they took us out and showed us around, special thanks to Dennis Todisco for taking us out for a night on the town. Towards the end of the first night, the team from Karmaloop accompanied us to “Cool Kids” show held at the Middle East venue, we ended the night by seeing most of the nightlife boston had to offer. The second day, we started the day off with the good people at Mountain Dew, who generously took us out to breakfast. After that, the rest of the day was spent with them literally giving us a real behind the scenes look at the setup process of the Mountain Dew sports show. While being at Dew AST Preliminaries, we kicked it with some of pro’s and people behind the scenes to learn a little bit about what it takes to put together a show like this, and see what it is exactly that they do. While being there, we hand the chance to link up with, and run into a lot of good friends that we don’t see regularly. The highlight for me having the privilege to see the finished products for the Green Label Art: Shop Series for 2010, where we got a first look at the 35 Mountain Dew cans that individual skate shops and artists around the country created as their own version. We got to sit in on the interview’s with Mountain Dew skateboarder P-Rod and legendary graphic skate artist Don Pendleton, both who worked jointly to design their own signature can for Mountain Dew. This is Paul Rodriquez’s second Mountain Dew Green Label Art design, and he wanted to base this design strictly off of skating. P-Rod knew that Don Pendleton was an artist who understood skate way of life and wanted him to help with this project. They gave us an idea of how the collaboration came together; what it took to build the process and make the collaboration come to life. The winning admission can will make its approach to the streets next year as an endorsed Mountain Dew. Once again, Mountain Dew is providing action sports fans the possibility to encounter the Dew Tour like never before, and only Green Label takes you beyond the typical and features the best art. Along with everything else Mountain Dew did for us, they gave us amazing gift bags with a signed can and a bunch of other goodies. Thanks to Mountain Dew for granting us the access and letting me document the Mountain Dew Tour.

A Week On The West Coast
04/21/2010

I am going, going, back, back, to Cali, Cali. A week on the West Coast is always beyond any of my expectations. This trip was long overdue – both filled with action-packed events as well opportunities to unwind.
Overall the visit has been exceedingly productive. If I wasn’t busy working, I was out spending my time dining at some of the finest fast food eateries that the West Coast has to offer. On behalf of my belly and I, I can honestly say that between the 5-mile radius of Chipotle and IN-N-OUT – I’m in heaven.
Me and Chris had the opportunity to hit up some local spots and as well as seeing people and friends that I don’t normally get to see everyday. And what better way to end a night and trip by capping it off with a trip to Venice Beach.

HARD NYC 2010
04/03/2010

If you didn’t make it out to HARDFEST NYC last night – punch yourself in the face right now. Terminal 5 was packed to the brim for the amazing line up of courtesy of the LA’s Hard Fest Team. Destructo, Proxy (who made a U.S. debut), Major Lazer and Boys Noize all took the stage at Terminal 5 here in NYC. Check out me and Asian Dan’s view from the stage as we covered the night for Media Contender. Always so good when I get to see good friends, family, all while hearing some ridiculously good music.

2010 SXSW Recap-Day 2
03/19/2010

Day 2 of SXSW. Somehow I am alive after an amazing Fool’s Gold Party and just in time for more music! We hit up the” Hair of the Dog 2″ show, got to kick it with the legendary DJ Craze, 12th Planet, Nick Catchdubs and Kill The Noise then headed to Carniville for more craziness. Kicked it with Diplo backstage and ate all the fruit and starbursts my little heart desired. Then some fool decided to steal my battery pack and lens, a huge blow to my SXSW experience Headed over to ACES bar to check out 12th Planet play a dope set as usual while sippin’ on some vodka in the early afternoon. And of course being in the land of beef, what better than to spend $400 on steaks at ” Austin Land and Cattle steak house “. I had the pleasure of dining across form Austin Power’s, Vern Troyer. He was my “fuck of the night” as he made love to me with his eyes all dinner. Then met up with Mars and Joi Starr for the 2nd Fool’s Gold Rec showcase where I drank it up with the SubCon Crew. Yet another fun filled day in the little town of Austin.

Trouble & Bass Presents: No Escape From New York
03/10/2010

When Trouble & Bass: No Escape From NY hits NYC every month, the bass lands right on your face. This past Wednesday, March 10, 2010 marked the arrival of 12th Planet and Flinch who joined the entire Trouble & Bass crew for a full on bass assault. It was a round robin of the Trouble & Bass crew, each taking a turn with The Captain, Star Eyes, AC Slater, and Drop The Lime all bringing beats before Flinch and 12th Planet brought their west coast dubstep flavor to the floor. When the night peaked, the party brought out some unexpected guests – Nick Catchdubs from Fool’s Gold Records, Diplo of Mad Decent, and the Black Eyed Peas. So next month, if you are in NYC make sure you hit up No Escape From NY… you never know what kind of people the bass brings out.

Todd Edwards & A-trak
02/19/2010

Asian Dan and I had the pleasure of documenting the meeting of two influential names in dance music – Todd Edwards and A-Trak. Todd being a godfather to 90s NYC House/UK Garage (even though he is from NJ) and A-Trak being a turntable virtuoso from Montreal. Todd and A-Trak first met in the Fool’s Gold offices, where they bonded over a shared love: early experiences with house music.
